xlg-gamma

A friendly voice to check in, every day.

xlg-gamma offers scheduled check-in conversations, gentle reminders and daily journaling for older people, delivered by an AI voice assistant over an ordinary phone call or message.

Currently in development. We are working with a small number of people to refine the service before wider release.

What the service does

xlg-gamma is built for one purpose: regular, friendly contact and everyday support. It is not a general "ask me anything" chatbot.

Check-in calls (under development)

A scheduled call at a time that suits the person, asking how they are and how their day is going.

Reminders (under development)

Gentle reminders for things the person or their family choose, such as appointments or taking a walk.

Daily journal

The person can talk through their day and the assistant keeps a simple journal they can look back on.

Please note: xlg-gamma uses artificial intelligence, and every call starts with the assistant introducing itself as an AI-powered system. It is not a medical service and does not give medical advice. It is not an emergency service: it is not monitored in real time and cannot contact emergency services for you. In an emergency, call 000.

How to join

Joining is by invitation. Each new person is given a one-time sign-up code. Before they sign up, we explain that xlg-gamma is an AI system and that conversations are transcribed and kept as a journal, as described in our privacy policy. Signing up with the code confirms they agree to this.

Messaging on WhatsApp (coming soon)

People who have joined xlg-gamma can message the assistant on WhatsApp, the same way they talk with it by phone. The assistant replies, remembers earlier conversations and can keep the chat in their journal. We also use WhatsApp to send a person notifications they have asked for, such as an alert that a voicemail has been left for them.

We only message people who have joined the service and agreed to receive messages. We never send marketing or advertising. To stop messages at any time, reply STOP or email admin@xlg-gamma.com.

About xlg-gamma

xlg-gamma (XtraLarge – Guided Adaptive Multi Modal Agent) is an Australian business run by Michael Maxwell.

Michael (“Mikee”) has a degree in Computer Science and a lifelong love of programming. With a strong belief in “using technology to make technology accessible”, he is developing this concept to fill a gap in current AI companion and call-assistant services, which often assume the user can operate a computer or smartphone app. The aim is a simple, friendly assistant that anyone can talk to by phone or message, including older people and those with physical disabilities or limited access to technology, giving them company and support while helping to keep families involved.
